What has happened to movies? Just seems like there are fewer great films than there were on average between around 1940-2010.
You can say the same for music, but although the problems overlap the two industries are not exactly analogous imho.
A truly shocking moment in last night’s debate: @bradlander doubled down and tried to justify manipulating a video where he spliced parts of two SEPARATE sentences I said to create an entirely different meaning.
Imagine if Brad said “I love the Knicks. I do not support Dan Goldman.” It would be deceptive and wrong to splice a video together where Brad says “I love Dan Goldman.”
According to Brad, this type of manipulation is ok. You be the judge.
#NY10 primary: Goldman campaign hits Brad Lander for saying he explored divesting from Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems.
Points to interview in March when he said he was proud of the NYC pension funds invested in the Israeli-owned company.
"With the exception of Khanna, none of those lawmakers responded to requests for comment about Piker’s latest posts on Hamas, nor did the “Pod Save America” hosts, including Jon Lovett, Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor"

An attack on a synagogue anywhere is an attack on every New Yorker and every American who believes in religious freedom.
What happened at Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, Mississippi, is vile, and we have to call it out for what it is: this is antisemitism, and it has been fueled by months and years of people stoking hate, excusing it, or hiding behind ‘context’ instead of condemning it.
When ‘leaders’ refuse to denounce Hamas, or they normalize slogans like ‘globalize the intifada,’ they’re not engaging in debate, they’re pouring gasoline on a fire that ends in violence against Jewish families. There is no moral gray area here: you condemn terrorism, you condemn antisemitism, and you stand with the Jewish community, full stop.
Law enforcement should treat this for what it is and prosecute it to the fullest extent. And the rest of us should have the courage to call hate by its name - and shut it down - every time, everywhere.
Homeownership is how immigrants, Black, Brown, and working-class New Yorkers built stability and generational wealth despite every obstacle.
You have to be completely out of your f****ing mind to call that “white supremacy.”
That level of thinking only comes from extreme privilege and total detachment from reality.
I know it's not the Kimmel news of the night, but I wonder how many reporting on the talk show host's return recognize that his opening line was an homage to Jack Paar. "As I was saying before I was interrupted," was Paar's opening line upon his return after walking off the Tonight Show for seven weeks in 1960 following NBC censors cutting a joke about a water closet (bathroom). His last line before walking out and leaving the show to sidekick Hugh Downs was, “There must be a better way of making a living than this.” When he came back Paar said, “I looked and there isn't."
