@CrosenderWay@DavemcMarine@JamesLeary7@richardcross7@MarineAFC Agree that communication is the key here. Don't usually get involved with these threads as I'm not much of one for coaches myself but we need to all pull together and talk so people don't feel left out. Will be at Peterborough tomorrow so will try and SHOUT for yous all!
@PaulbernalUK Even given the more overtly political student world of my time in the early 80's I doubt many if any of my lecturers had a clue about my political leanings! Will they ever drop this victim card, it is very tiresome.
@alisonkatebr Was once on the end of a sharp elbow in the ribs on making a similar rookie tourist error in Amsterdam. With enough trips to The Netherlands since I now know the ropes!
@R1100GSBlueNose We need to see the ringleaders /organisers done for conspiracy - that's were bigger sentences really need to come. Not holding my breath though...
Prof Stephen Reicher, "I would appeal to you to not call these people protestors. They're not protestors"
"To call them protestors is profoundly misleading. It is to discredit a long tradition of perfectly legitimate and peaceful and important protest that has made our society better in many ways"
"What's going on is specific to these crowds.. Crowd psychology is there when people are cleaning up the streets as well as attacking the streets.. The difference is one group has an ideology of hate and violence, another has a vision of community and solidarity"
"Most people are pro immigration.. The irony is that over recent years attitudes towards immigration has become more positive.. People see immigrants as a boom rather than as a menace to the country.. Britain is one of the more liberal countries"
"If we didn't have migrants then our care service would fall apart, our NHS would fall apart.. It's important not to highlight the negative exceptions, but to show that most people are pro migrants"
@Baghdaddi Agree Patrick. And if the BBC reporter at the scene in Sunderland could identify organisers 'older men in England shirts' directing younger hooligans, we should be seeing conspiracy charges, with the hefty sentences that can then follow being handed down.
@alisonkatebr The appeasement and even support for the Far Right's position from those in power is gone. So they lash out. They were emboldened by the last Govt, but individuals are responsible for their own actions and we need to see a robust response and perpetrators arrested and charged.
@herotimeszero Just been indoor climbing. She looks rather like the young women I saw there, being themselves and adding only joy to the mix. I assume she should just look like everybody else or something?
@alisonkatebr Home can be complicated! My partner's identical twin lives in Nijmegen, certainly home to her two daughters (15 & 19) but even though she's been in The Netherlands 30+ years a part of home is here, while a part of home for both her and my partner is where the other twin is. 🤔
Disappearing soon as off to The Netherlands for a few weeks. Will still be climbing next Saturday morning but in Nijmegen. Back in the UK for the Moorforge Folk Festival
@alisonkatebr It is so important to keep in touch with younger people as your age gets further from theirs. Realise this is one reason I love my indoor bouldering sessions - attracts a youthful crowd who bring an exuberance to the place, are chilled and accepting.
@PicassoRepublic@anthony_ward @RevRichardColes Yes it is the grift, constantly finding a way for private capital to be used to take from the common-wealth.
Less than a quarter of Brits - 24% - now think the UK should remain outside of the EU, while 71% say the economy is worse off because of Brexit. The tide has turned completely and at some point our main political parties are going to have to catch up. https://t.co/DnYmwoMZuD
