I was today years old when I learned that sea urchins naturally use shells as hats to make them feel safer and camouflaged so some aquarists had the genius idea to make them tiny hats
Watch this video. Basically we have to lower carbon emissions to slow down this irreversible damage, this is a little big graphic if you’re sensitive but I encourage you to all watch it
.@normneedleman Recycling doesn't have to be confusing. Displaying @recycleacrossam nonprofit standardized labels on all recycling bins and residential carts throughout the U.S. will #FixIt. So let's fix it in our community #LetsRecycleRight
I agree, as stream and headwater temps rise these sensitive areas will show amplified affects downstream as the ecology rapidly changes in these streams over time. #AquaEco2018
#AquaEco2018 Climate change will not only impact the temperature of NH streams but streams all over the world. These changes can have major, cascading impacts on ecosystems like changes to decomposition rates.

Last winter the Connecticut river saw severe ice jam, will that happen again this year even sooner? We saw ice on some parts as far south as Chester CT this weekend. How will this impact infrastructure? #AquaEco2018
Amazing to see the gorgeous beasts that used to swim around. Truly a shame we don’t have opportunity like this readily available to us any more. I wonder what it would take for people to make and effort towards restoring this treasure #aquaeco2018
Great example of #shiftingbaselines in rivers. New England historically had sea-run salmon. Now the population is limited mostly to downeast Maine. Can you imagine salmon swimming up the Oyster River in Durham? #AquaEco2018
Fish feeding in ossipee New Hampshire at a fish farm. This is @Chris11915217 and myself’s research project location where we are studying the affects of this hatchery on the water quality. #AquaEco2018
Visited the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY this weekend to see the salmon run and attempt at catching a steelhead. Crazy to see how many zombie pudding King Salmon we’re littered on the bank and in the benthos. #aquaeco2018
Cool video! i wonder if you could try and match what's hatching in the stream this time of year and use that as a lure/fly if it would take that! #AquaEco2018
I went fishing over the weekend, while I wasn't able to catch much on my rod, I was able to catch this little fella on camera. While this brook trout might not be native, it's defiantly wild (it was born in the stream) which means the water quality must be great! #AquaEco2018
Apparently this brain tissue eating amoeba was found as a result of a random water quality test by Louisiana water quality management. The amoeba is only deadly if the water enters through the nose but if it does it is almost always fatal. #AquaEco2018
WOW! Mondo sized mussel there Chris. You gotta wonder if the oxygen and nutrients in the water from the hatchery upstream has something to do with it?
#AquaEco2018
This picture was taken last year just downstream from a trout hatchery. Through a little research, I hope to find out what makes these freshwater mussels grow so large and in such high densities. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? #AquaEco2018
HUGE water even went down on Tuesday in Chester, CT. Amazing to see the force of nature from such a small tributary of the CT river, Great Brook cause so much damage to this small sturdy bridge. #AquaEco2018
this tweet goes out to everyone who’s called a liquor store “the packie” outside of connecticut and got totally eviscerated by ur social circle... don’t forget ur roots down some nips and keep fighting xo
Here’s a little underwater footage from college brook above boulder field where we found a few tadpoles amongst other things swimming around. This one happens to be holding still for the shot. #AquaEco2018
