Gov. of Canada Total Debt:
2023: $1,278B
2018: $696B
2013: $671B
Debt surged by 84% in the past 5 years!
Gov. bond renewal schedule:
20% in < 1 year
54% in < 3 years
Bad news for taxpayers:
Gov. likely to face much higher interest payments on its debt soon!

When the US economy imploded in 2008...
Canada lowered interest rates in lockstep, when we did not need to.
This created an unnecessary decade of searing hot housing inflation here.
NOW - when Canada implodes, the USA WILL NOT lower interest rates with us.
This will cause unimaginable pain.
Lmao. Freeland responded to the nazi allegations by releasing another $20b in Canada Mortgage Bonds.
She heard you like inflation, so why not double down while foreign countries increasingly aren’t absorbing bonds from the West. 😂
Here's Loblaw's income statement for 2023. Just looking at the most recent quarter (Apr-June).
They bought $9.3 billion dollars of goods from producers.
They sold that for $13.7 billion through 600+ stores across Canada
So their profit was $4.4 billion.
Their staff, rent, utilities, advertising, trucking, etc was $3.5 billion. They employ 136,000 Canadians.
Interest on debt was $195 million.
They paid $195 million in taxes (Federal, Prov. & municipal)
That left $541 million. The profits are typically redistributed to shareholders (3-5%) and the rest is re-invested in new stores.
It's a typical retail business with miniscule margins.
The Trudeau government burns through $541 million dollars in just 6 hours.
Remember CEBA Loans? The $60K Loan The Government Offered To Basically Anyone With A Business Number
Well they're all coming due soon even though the deadline was pushed 2 weeks
Well they might be the last nail in small business' coffin

Tiff isn't raising rates tomorrow.
The Premiers know that.
But, by sending a letter asking him not to do something he wasn't going to do anyway,
they look like they are sticking up for the people.
That's politics, people.
Remember when politicians were writing letters to the Bank of Canada to stop with their reckless low interest rate policy during the last decade
Yeah, neither do I... we are in the current mess because interest rates were so for so long, and people thought debt was riskless..
Do We Actually Know How Many New Immigrants There Are? Nope!
Looks like a MILLION person mistake
Which is just horrible and pure incompetence
We are seeing multiple reports of massive miscounting of Temporary Foreign Workers and even mistakes on student visa numbers

A round of applause for 🇨🇦’s policymakers at all levels.
The worst housing affordability in nearly two generations wasn’t possible without being laser focused on negligent governance.
Bonus points for acting like it just suddenly happened.
Finance Minister Freeland Says Housing Has Been Major Liberal Party Focus Since 2013 WTF?
Please forget about a Speeding Ticket, everybody gets one in their lives
This is much more IMPORTANT
The Finance Minister declared she had been highly focused on Housing from 2013

Michael J Fox & Terry Fox went to high schools 22 minutes away from each other, Burnaby Central & Port Coquitlam Secondary School. Combined both have raised over 2 billion dollars for health research.
Maybe Canada should be punted from the G7 given our stagnant economy with negative GDP per capita growth?
If so, Australia or South Korea would be a huge upgrade as potential replacements. https://t.co/zX43Mu3q4q
On @GlobalBC Newshour at 6: ILWU resume port strike, reject 4yr 19.2% (compounded) wage hike (to $119,000 annually for FT), avg. $3000 signing bonus for FT, 18.5% increase to retirement payout (to $96,250). Will federal govt. now step in? #bcpoli#cdnpoli
Canadian Inflation Down To 2.8% In June Good News For Mortgage Rates?
Nope Not Today
Start by saying Food Inflation is still 9% which is a total disaster for everyone that eats and double for me because I am obviously a guy who eats
Average working people are screwed

Even worse, I’m told by a reliable source that apparently the cougar ate the family dog right in front of the family while they sought safety in their car.
And the big cat didn’t even leave when the RCMP showed up, but they couldn’t safely shoot it, so it got away.
Dale "if you ignore facts and logic Liberals are good and Poilievre is wrong" Smith.
Inflation didn't "fell" to 3.4% it increased by 3.4% y/y. Base year effect. It decreased from the previous month.
Good news! He says.
Mortgage and food remains elevated but core measures are falling rapidly...except that hosing and food are 'core' measurements.
Grocery prices up 9% y/y and mortgage interest rate costs increased 29.9% y/y the largest increase on record - definitely good news!
And cements his fiscal illiteracy with reckless government spending doesn't cause inflation 🤦🏼♂️
Poor Dale has his head shoved so far up Liberal's behinds he hasn't a breath of fresh air in years.
In Toronto this building cannot be built.
In NYC, this 28,000 SF building has 32 units and is on 7,000 SF of land.
We need to change the planning paradigm and make small lots attainable for housing.
Typically in Toronto less than 10,000 SF of land cannot support development. There are a few exceptions (Lamb 224 King ST W Theater park).
If we change the planning to allow more mid to high density development achievable on smaller lots and in neighbourhoods we can open up countless new areas for housing.
