The North Platte Canteen’s volunteers served over 6 million soldiers during World War II as they traveled on the Union Pacific Railroad. It was great to visit the future site of the North Platte Canteen Public Art Piece. This project will showcase, from a servicemember’s perspective, what the view pulling into North Platte was like and commemorate all those involved in the Canteen.
