Let’s deconstruct @RupertLowe10’s speech to @Nigel_Farage.

Let’s call it what it is: running a potential merger up the flagpole after tanking in Manchester with an unknown, unqualified, single issue candidate. Right after tanking in Makerfield with an unknown (but likeable) candidate.

Rupert has now realised Restore won’t gain critical mass before ‘29. So he is hedging his bets.

Restore gossip channels have been talking about this for weeks. And this is more about building bridges with Yusuf than Farage.

@ZiaYusufUK is the next Reform leader and potential PM. Make no mistake. Farage will never be PM; he isn’t a details man.

It’s a crafty power play by Rupert. And it’ll probably go nowhere. One must negotiate from a position of power or at least, equality. Restore are tiny compared to Reform. Polling lower. 1 MP vs 7/8. Just 6-8% in elections. Rupert may have played this card too early.

However, Farage is on the ropes over the bungs. He’s now fighting a bin in Clacton. Burn ‘em might call an early GE while the right is wounded and fractured. Farage could walk away (again) with his loot.

If his aristo paymasters accept Yusuf. And they probably have already.

A merged Restore/Reform may be ideal. Especially if the ex-Reform mid management now Restore grifters are flushed out along the way.

Farage can retire again, Rupes and Yusuf can make up and blame Farage. The right becomes stronger. Everyone is a winner.

The funders, Harborne and the Cottrells, move closer to installing a government they approve of. Which is, after all, why they have been thrusting money at Farage for years.

Some thoughts on #RestoreBritain vs #ReformUK. A dose of realism.

I support Rupert Lowe’s ideas completely. But their vetting is crap and all kinds of grifters are becoming branch leads. They won’t gain critical mass before ’29.

They tanked in Makerfield (where I was door knocking for them), they tanked in the Norfolk PCC election, they’ll tank in the #ManchesterMayor election @ ~6% (my prediction). The message isn’t reaching people and/or it’s simply not resonating.

#Reform are far better organised and funded, especially with all those millions in obfuscated aristocratic and crypto cash flowing in. More MPs, more councillors, better PR, better social media game and FAR better polling.

Restore branches even have to fund their own leaflets. I’ve been involved in a local Restore branch. It’s amateur night. Full of local grudges, backstabbing and people’s personal agendas and desperation for office. Business people and even farmers are swiftly excluded if they’re not nodding dogs. @RupertLowe10 visits local branches and gets a curated version of reality. As with #Tameside recently.

This is David and Goliath. By comparison, Restore next to Reform are like a lemonade stand outside a Tesco.

Nice to see, nostalgic perhaps, even ideal to many of us. But they’re not overtaking Tesco. It’s just not happening.

Reform will have to be the vehicle for change. You might dislike #Farage’s shifty financials, you might think Tice smarmy, you might think Yusuf (who will be PM if they win) less than ideal. Actually, despite Rupertgate, I’m warming to @ZiaYusufUK a bit. He talks sense.

You might think Reform have slid into the sloppy centre, supporting the sons of Allah, etc. But Reform, or even a Reform and Conservative coalition, is the best chance we have of getting Burn ‘em out.

To imagine Restore can gain hundreds of seats by ‘29 is for the birds. What they can do is keep forcing Reform to the right. As is happening. That’s no bad thing.

Nothing will be ideal. There’s always a compromise in life. We don’t live in a perfect world.

Reform must be the vehicle we travel on. For now.
