@hudd07 They drafted Rourke with him as the backup QB succession plan. Wouldnโt be surprised if he gets the backup job this year if another team suffers a QB injury
Doing a deep dive into Kaelon Black tape and Shanahan and John Lynch must've ran up the wrong card because this pick makes absolutely NO SENSE. The vast majority of his carries are between the tackles, man/gap runs ๐ค
There are a couple good things about this rep from 49ers rookie WR DeโZhaun Stribling
Itโs hard to see but that ball was deflected by the DB and he still was able to bring it in and he also TRUCKED the DB at the end of the big gain
49ers were one of the slowest offenses by GPS speed in 2025. Since then, they've added:
-De'Zhaun Stribling (4.36)
-Christian Kirk (would've had SF's 3 top MPH times in 2025)
-Kaelon Black (4.43)
Also, while Mike Evans isn't a burner, he casts real gravity at the X โ 49ers did not have that space-maker in 2025
Bonus add, related to speed infusion and space-making: Enrique Cruz Jr. (fastest OL in 2026 draft class)
Don't expect Cruz to carry the ball, but don't be shocked if SF at least experiments with him as a third TE given the multi-TE rage that's taking over the league.
Guess who Mike McDaniel used as a TE last year? Daniel Brunskill
Gotta say, I'm buying in. Still think he looks stiff and I have questions about his releases vs. press, but his toughness, size, and speed stand out. The catch at 1:08 here...man can he run!
