🧐What is the Sunrise Upgrade Program?

The Sunrise Upgrade Program is composed of a variety of creative technical and non-technical missions in support of The Graph’s Sunrise of Decentralized Data – a three-phased plan enabling all subgraphs to upgrade seamlessly to The Graph Network.

The Graph Foundation has allocated up to 4 Million GRT to reward The Graph community (and community newcomers) for their contributions around completed missions in this program. The successful completion of qualified missions earn individuals GRT rewards.

Pro tip: participants completing missions earlier are able to earn a larger amount of the reward pool.

whether you know it or not, most blockchain data providers use The Graph tech under the hood, we view this as positive sum for the web3 ecosystem because it solidifies a standard way for all to access data

core devs of The Graph are also working on making it as easy as possible for any new data services that are complimentary to subgraphs, to be accessible on The Graph & part of the GRT economy - the next data services are SQL & AI, but really the data world is our oyster! (tell us what data services you want to see!)

any team operating centralized Graph Nodes should be contributing back to the open source community & (in theory) be highly performant Indexers on the open source network, we'd like to see these teams put their money where their mouth is

The upgrade Indexer is live, and with that, phase 1 of the Sunrise of Decentralized Data has begun. The Sunray phase marks the first of three in the journey towards the Sunrise of Decentralized Data 🎉

What does the upgrade Indexer mean for The Graph ecosystem?

Chains that were previously only available on the hosted service are now available on The Graph Network! Web3 devs can publish subgraphs across dozens of chains. This includes popular ecosystems such as @BuildOnBase @BNBCHAIN @optimism & 20+ more! This is a huge step toward full support for more networks on The Graph!

⚡ Seamless subgraph updates ⚡

Thanks to the upgrade Indexer, new subgraph versions will be available to be queried virtually immediately after updating.
