Axios' @BarakRavid reports that the Trump administration is demanding that Iran publicly declare the Strait of Hormuz open to commercial shipping and commit to ending attacks on merchant vessels by tomorrow, according to Axios, citing U.S. officials.

The request comes after U.S. officials say Iran violated last month's memorandum of understanding by targeting commercial ships, prompting two rounds of U.S. retaliatory strikes. Iranian and Omani officials are expected to meet in Muscat tomorrow, with Washington signaling it expects Tehran to reaffirm freedom of navigation and halt further attacks.

U.S. officials say diplomacy remains the preferred path, but warned that if Iran refuses to make the commitment, additional consequences could follow.
