🦪🚨🦪 First publication!!
Modeled oyster larval performance and settlement windows were compared to observed recruitment in Delaware Bay. Strong agreement validates the model and emphasizes the importance of food supply on larval development https://t.co/njTwCbD8Mh
🚨🐟🦖New paper! Gulf Sturgeon are currently unprotected under the ESA in Alabama, however, we found that they occupied habitats within Mobile Bay during the overwinter foraging period warranting reconsideration for protection of the species in this system https://t.co/19YhBIDmwd
Last sampling trip for my internship complete! Great experience observing my ‘children’ grow from spat last October to market size now, and an excellent opportunity to team science with industry!
Spent an early Father’s Day with my children and some of the friends they made in the Delaware Bay! They grow up so fast! 🦪
Does anyone know what kind of eel this is?
Fun fact this is not an oyster!
Nor is it a sturgeon like we were looking for! But big blue was still a good catch!
Thanks @Wormy_Sturgeon lab and @lyssa_pagel for taking me out!
Hello everyone! Meeting notes from the Oyster Community of Practice meeting held on May 13th are now available! You can read them here: https://t.co/1UcB6oETZ4. We have also created a poll to help us plan our future meetings, which is available here: https://t.co/7OH8vlvxeI.
A lot has gone wrong for Mississippi oysters, including strong storms & freshwater flooding. New reporting shows the state has failed to head off the crisis, investing millions in rebuilding reefs in ways that didn’t respond to changing conditions. https://t.co/dPvG9dke09
First trip since deployment checking on my children went successful! I’m working with Cape May Salt Oyster farms to compare performance of various triploid oyster lines in the farm’s patent tidal-rotating subtidal gear! However, NJ oyster farm also means driving all gear from MS!

Great opportunity to present the key findings for the USM Optical Observations for Oyster Larvae program at the 2023 MBRACE All Hands Meeting! Glad I could experience the connectivity between researchers and state resource management regarding coastal restoration!!
Thanks everyone for putting this on! Definitely came away with a lot more boating knowledge! I appreciate all the folks who took time to share their experience!
Today my lab, @ASubunit, and @USMCFRD organized the third small boat workshop helping provide experience to students and staff wanting more experience trailering, running, and troubleshooting small boats. Huge hat tip to @greenbeath for help organize the event!
