Pulte's only qualification is that he is willing to abuse his authority to destroy Trump's political enemies.
He has zero national security experience. He's going to DNI to spy on Trump's opponents ahead of the election.
Period. Stop.
And Trump doesn't care if you know it.
60 minutes is dead. What’s on now is just the remnants of a legendary news magazine. The Ellison’s can’t be reasoned with because they’re killing the show by design. So fuck em. NBC or ABC should hire the whole staff and re-create the show in the same timeslot with a new name.
If implemented, this would be one of the most significant shifts in federal research governance in modern U.S. history.
The concern is not simply budget cuts. It is political review moving into individual grant decisions - fundamentally changing how American science operates.

@lpachter Sean was my TA when I was an undergrad in Boulder. He had a big influence on my career then, even if he didn’t know it, and has since. His science is amazing. This is absurd.
Woah. A profound shift in American science is coming.
Every federal research grant could soon require sign-off from a political appointee.
Scientific progress depends on funding decisions grounded in merit and public health need, NOT ideological approval.
Having Milli Vanilli, a group who ended up admitting they didn't actually sing on their records, as performers for Freedom 250, is one of the most on brand things Trump has done.
For the whole U.S. job market, H1B workers are < 0.5% of employment. And in the tech sector it's < 9%. While there is certainly abuse of H1B & we need reform to cut this out, overwhelming majority of H1Bs make short & long term net positive contributions. It's not zero sum.
This is exactly what many legal immigrants have been trying to explain.
Forcing students, researchers, physicians, engineers, entrepreneurs, and workers to leave the United States during green card processing would create enormous instability for people who already followed every legal rule and built lives here in good faith.
Combined with the #USCISpause, these policies are already causing job loss, frozen work authorization, family separation, financial hardship, and deep uncertainty for countless lawful immigrants contributing to America’s economy, universities, hospitals, and research institutions.
A strong immigration system should attract and retain talent, not push it away.
