Sapper John Albert Guy, a marine engineer from South Wales, was one of many thousands of emigrant soldiers serving in the Australian Imperial Force in the First World War.
At just 23 years old, he died of wounds sustained at the Battle of the Somme, and we care for his grave in Etaples Military Cemetery.
Behind every name is the tragedy of a life lost, and we will continue to share their stories. Read them on For Evermore at the link below.

Here, here. @ECB_cricket, what is the logic of your decision remove Test cricket from the 3.2M #northern#cricket lovers, it beggars belief, its a disgrace. Butch nails it. Time for @andyburnham
A one-year delay for a USA red card? @FIFAWorldCup making up their own rules again. Pure corruption. The beautiful game deserves better than this bias. #FIFA#usa
@FIFAWorldCup Just sold out to #USA, how much did orange face pay you? You're a disgrace, bent and corrupt. Sack #infantino. Sack the board. #FAKE usa world cup.
When did this country lose its blitz can do roll up your sleeves mentality and become so hysterical about things.?
The U.K. does seem like quite an inept country these days. We can't deal with snowy days, frosty days , hot days or wet days. And all such situations aren't problematic if you plan and have efficient plans in place .
These situations tend to occur on an annual basis . Yet here we are with the same nonsense.
Heat isn't the problem
Bad governance and hysterical media are
We need a government that provides cheap energy so we can all heat and cool our homes accordingly
We need a Government that uses our resources sensibly and balances supply and demand, builds reservoirs, uses desalination plants , unblocks drains and stops gallons of water lost every day etc
We need to stop building on flood plains and protect and enable more green spaces which grow food and shelter and house an abundance of flora and fauna and actually absorb excess heat, and water in rainy seasons
And we all need to start taking responsibility for ourselves. Stay in the shade, drink more.. eat lighter .. take more rest breaks etc
And we need media and education to Instill a can do capable mentality in our kids
And to keep calm and carry on !
I often wonder what the fuck is wrong with society 👇
Heartfelt congratulations to the person who dug up the pitch at the Crown Hill Cricket Ground to prove their "success."
You succeeded in your mission.
Westcroft Cricket Club has, with great regret, been forced to withdraw from the league because it is no longer possible for other teams to play in this constant environment of vandalism.
You did not just damage a pitch; you stripped away the favorite sport, the joy, the friendships, and the healthy activities of over 80 children, youths, and adult players.
Congratulations on impacting an entire cricketing community.
Congratulations on undermining the hard work of volunteers who dedicate their time, money, and energy to promote the sport.
Congratulations on disappointing the parents who wanted to see their children engaged in positive activities.
Cricket is not just a game; it is a source of discipline, friendship, respect, and community cohesion.
It is tragic that someone’s negative mindset and destructive actions have washed away the happiness of so many people.
Hopefully, you are satisfied today knowing that a single action of yours has affected dozens of matches, hundreds of hours of hard work, and the happiness of countless individuals. But remember, grounds can be rebuilt, pitches can be prepared again, and the cricket community can bounce back stronger than ever.
Our full support and respect goes out to Westcroft Cricket Club, its players, volunteers, and supporters.
We hope this difficult time passes quickly and that the voices of children and youth will once again echo through the cricket ground.
A Call to the Community
We request all readers to strongly condemn this shameful act. The person who damaged the cricket ground and pitch did not just dig up soil—they attacked the happiness of dozens of children, youth, and athletes.
If you also believe that damaging sports fields, youth activities, and community hard work is unacceptable, then please raise your voice against this act.
Express your condemnation at least once, so a message goes out that our community will never accept such negative and destructive behavior.
Your single comment, a word, or even one voice can serve as proof of standing with this community.
Show solidarity with Westcroft Cricket Club, its 80+ players, and all its volunteers.
Sports stand for love, unity, and positive engagement. It is the responsibility of us all to discourage those who destroy them.
Westcroft Cricket Club.
This hasn’t gone viral the way it should.
Jamie Corry, an Irish lad from east Belfast, has lost his home of 13 years after masked rioters set fire to cars outside and it engulfed his house in last night’s violent chaos.
He stood right there and begged one of them:
“This is my house. This is my house.”
They didn’t care.
They burned it anyway.
“They’ve done it to one of their own.”
These racist, uneducated thugs and street urchins destroy everything in their path. They don’t care who gets hurt: locals, families, their own community. Just mindless arsonists ruining innocent lives with no excuse.
Retweet for a chance to win!

"Southern Water illegally dumped sewage after £90m fine."
And that my friends is why the public should now be allowed to decide the future of the water industry.
Govt can't be trusted, regulators can't be trusted, the industry can't be trusted. WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

@SouthStandPies@lhenry019 You've really no idea of the dystopia times we are living in. I'd love it if you stood in their shoes, you'd be paying 20x more than what you pay for watching your team. It's you who is the disgrace.
