So, now I'm a sci-fi writer. I'd like to say I sit on a mountain top dreaming of the future all day but, *sigh*, it gets a bit boring. So, talk to me, why not?
@nerinedorman I wouldn't feel the least bit intimidated by AI writing tools. From what I've seen and, even more, from what I've read, these tools are rubbish. As aids for the literarily challenged, they're coming along but they lack style, imagination and any grasp of the human condition.
Looking for an interesting, off-beat crime series for the holidays? Try my Luke Kelly novels. They're set in & around Brisbane, Australia and the unlikely detectives are an unemployed philosophy grad and an ageing ex-cop with a very dubious past. https://t.co/pMaKmiAmlG #crime
@JChapman1729 Hi, John, It's been hard to get my free copy of immortality gene. Just looking for it on Amazon takes me to a landing page where the ebook costs $4.31. However, clicking your Bitly link, takes me to a warning from Bitly itself that it has blocked wherever it should have taken me!
So, Trump is back on Twitter. I daresay it won't affect me much since I never did follow him nor any of his MAGAts. However, I'm now slowly transferring my social media activity to Mastodon. Musk's ownership has poisoned Twitter for me. You can find me at @[email protected]
@AngelaMortimer2@aus And, once you are on Mastodon server somewhere, anywhere, try using hashtags to search for communities of interest. Plenty of writers on there, for example.
I've been taking a look at #Mastodon with a view to moving off Twitter. If you go there, you can find me at @[email protected] It's nice there, very Twitter-like but (after 24 hours) I'm still finding it mildly confusing. Still, it took me a while to make sense of Twitter.
@AngelaMortimer2@aus Yes, it's growing so fast the admins are struggling to cope. There are lots of other Mastodon servers. You could try https://t.co/IwLznjDySG, https://t.co/nVzys25XRR, https://t.co/7qdK2T2tbf. You can always change later if you find a better fit.
I can't believe what's happening at Twitter. I don't care what is wrong or right with the platform. What Musk is doing is wrong. Disrupting the lives of thousands of people like that just so he can make more money is complete bastardry.
Wild weather last night. Brought down two trees across my drive. Had to go down with a chain saw so my wife could get to her morning appointment. Also one very tall tree behind the house just snapped in half! #LifeInTheForest
@AngelaMortimer2 So often there are buck-passing options for everyone involved. In my case, three different companies and several device manufacturers. The only ones who can't just shrug and forget about it are the saps trying to get something to work :-(
My email stopped working and I just spent two days working out how to fix it. I now know far more about POP, IMAP and SMTP, as well as TLS and SSL than I ever wanted to. Information technology -- especially comms technology -- is stupidly fragile and stupidly complicated. Grrr.
@pattyjansen Yes, my problem is similar (except substitute Google for Apple). I had a colleague once who believed all apps should work as simply as domestic appliances. Of course, that was in that glorious time before said appliances began to be networked :-)
