Indonesia does not include mangrove aspect in its NDC Paris Agreement, but 23 countries do

Oil palm expansion is also a new threat of mangrove deforestation

Mangrove deforestation in Indonesia is high, 52.000ha/year (6% forest loss).

The challenge is how we can maintain the muddy soil of mangrove so the carbon will not be released back to the atmosphere.

It can absorb c-atmosphere and store it mostly (80%) at below ground, and the rest is above ground.

Mangrove has the highest carbon storage amongst other types of forest in the world.
