The law is absolutely clear. If you drive at 30mph on a road with a 20mph limit and you hit a pedestrian, even if they were negligent, you are 100% liable for any injury or loss to the pedestrian. https://t.co/5h45wiWJOY
50,000 people, 1,000 organisations, 230 scientists and 160 MPs are urging @Keir_Starmer to give the Climate and Nature Bill time to progress in this crucial session. We need a science-led, joined-up plan to tackle the climate and nature crises NOW.
It’s time to back the science, and back the #CANBill

Note to new English MPs.
Congratulations on being elected.
In Wales the national 20mph limit is a default with exceptions for built-up areas only and not a blanket.
Local authorities have the power and responsibility to set exceptions. All have set exceptions in Wales.
It has huge benefits. Already a 32% reduction in casualties and an insurance company is reporting a 20% reduction in accident damage claims.
In England 61 out of 153 local authorities have already set 20mph as the norm for most roads in built-up areas.
It has huge benefits for NHS in reducing casualties and Public Health in supporting active travel.
Its a great initiative that helps the most vulnerable transport users in society. Yes some drivers find it inconvenient, but most recognise its value.
Such health initiatives are better implemented as a national standard rather than a post-code lottery. So why not help fill-in the danger places in England that do not have "20mph better places to be" policies and support local authorities who want to say #20splenty where people are.
Statistic wanted please in order to justify claim that private education is being used by people who 'scrimp and save'. Further statistic needed that if VAT is put on, that this group will not be able to afford private education. Gross numbers and/or percentages please.

@SYPOperations Where crashes occur and a hands free phone is present, are SYP checking that phone to see if the driver was using it at the time of the crash? Could this not prove 'driving without due care and attention'?
We’ve been looking at the #Fatal4 all month. To round up this week here is a great opportunity from the @ProjectEdward team, talking to @DrGemmaBriggs to learn about the often unknown and unacknowledged dangers of hands free phone use whilst driving

@UKROEd@ProjectEdward@DrGemmaBriggs Very interesting podcast. Could evidence be gathered from hands free phones when crashes occur to see whether a driver was using handsfree at the time of the crash? Checking that phone could reveal whether the driver was distracted (ie driving without due care and attention).
Our calls to fix the broken justice system continue to be heard by those in power.
Just a couple of weeks ago, MPs shared the experiences of RoadPeace members in a Parliamentary debate, highlighting the need for real change.
