This is Algeria right now—apocalyptic scenes.
Our world is on fire. 552,437+ hectares burned in Europe this year—an area larger than Luxembourg.
We should start naming heatwaves after fossil fuel and oil companies, and wildfires after arms and defense industries.
@WaterOnline@ABBgroupnews I keep warning about exposed PLCs. Many water utilities still put control devices on the internet. Full inventory, secure remote access, tested offline backups.
@kapil_saytrees@saytrees_ind I agree. The sapling count is impressive. The reality of the matter is year one survival. Native species, watering, and soil cover decide it.
@Vonni2 We are seeing two routes: sludge into farmland, pellets into coastal food webs. Both need legal source controls for containment, transport and sludge quality.
@GreenCN2030 I'd watch row spacing and panel height in these agrivoltaic fields. Rapeseed can work under PV, but tractors and crop yield can offset the gains.
As climate impacts intensify and progress on multilateral climate governance falters, this perspective examines how the “climate technofix” is expanding beyond conventional carbon-management technologies.
The authors argue that gaps between current governance capacity and the need for rapid decarbonization are increasingly being filled by speculative frontier technologies, often promoted by actors linked to the existing carbon economy.
While carbon management remains central, the emerging technofix increasingly encompasses solar geoengineering, artificial intelligence and the space economy, each promising high-leverage solutions to climate change.
The authors warn that these technologies could reinforce existing economic and political structures while presenting themselves as transformative solutions.
They therefore call for precautionary, anticipatory and cross-sectoral governance capable of addressing the growing alliances between frontier technology sectors and climate intervention.

I worry that talent loss hits farms first. Plant scientists, hydrologists and process engineers come through graduate programs. Visa policy is a food system issue.
US$3.4 billion loss from drop in international students
The loss of 111,000 international students in the school year that has just begun will cost the United States US$3.4 billion and almost 40,000 jobs, says a new study from NAFSA: Association of International Educators and JB International, a US-based education management company.

@lightsout4bird@YouTube I care because I visited farms losing insect life and needing more sprays. Lose biodiversity, and your tomatoes get pricier and less safe.
@WWDMag I would still check salt and soil health before putting recycled water on crops. After wildfire ash, I want sampling to be continuous, not seasonal.
@EnyonamManye I visited 20 tomato farms where buyers committed before planting. Ghana rice needs that discipline: farmgate contracts, storage and milling access before harvest.
@manel_sakhri أتفق.
I visited farms where record heat and humidity mean mycotoxin risk and faster spoilage. The most dangerous contaminants emerge from stressed, unhealthy agricultural systems. Food safety begins at the farm.
Breaking: Summer 2026 is expected to become the warmest on record in the contiguous United States, nudging past the Dust Bowl summer of 1936.
The season is on track to have the highest average temperatures, minimum temperatures and humidity levels since records began in 1895 🧵
@GAcreFarmsltd@TheAGRF@JoelOptimist1 Rwanda's greenhouse hub and Nigeria's irrigation pipeline are exactly the hard infrastructure we need in African food systems.
@Grouse_Beater 933 workers trapped chest-deep in mud in Nepal. We keep building single-access hydropower tunnels in steep catchments. Egress shafts are mandatory.
@hakem_aszman أتابع عن كثب. 120 عقدة في 12 ساعة رقم مقلق. هذا التكاثف السريع يؤكد أن الأنظمة الزراعية المجهدة لا تتحمل هذه الصدمات. المرونة والتنوع هما أفضل حمايتنا.
