Within six years: a mind smarter than the sum of humans -- scaled, recursive, free. We have no language for what’s coming.
There is a chamber in God himself into which none can enter but the one, the individual man, out of which chamber that man has to bring revelation and strength for his brethren. This is that for which he was made—to reveal the secret things of the Father.
I propose that Jesus reveals that God’s sovereignty is not an authoritarian sovereignty of coercion and control, but a relational sovereignty of humility and love (which flows together with the first axiom: God is good). https://t.co/mfb2dwZ7hs
The advice I give young preachers before they preach...
Remember: no one has come to see you today.
Don't try to be awesome.
We don't care if you're cute, funny, charming, or impressive.
We've not come to be amazed by you.
We've come to see Jesus.
Give me Jesus.
Conservatism believes the ideal is behind us.
Progressivism believes it is ahead.
The radical claim of Christianity is that both are right & also wholly wrong, because our hope is neither nostalgia nor a secular utopia.
The Garden is gone, but the Kingdom of God is coming.
One moment in doc film 'For Our Daughters,' I'll never forget.
Abuse survivor @ThigpenTiffany is ready to tell how a FL youth pastor assaulted her & advocating for his conviction w/ othr victims.

Your entire life will change the moment you stop romanticizing the path not taken and start romanticizing the actions to make your path as beautiful as it can be.
There is a “current” communicators hit, a run—whether or not you’re a preacher or a stand up comedian, speakers knows when they get in THAT pocket, where you feel like you can do no wrong. But everything in that zone is not “God,” & it’s dangerous to not know the difference between God & “the juice.”
"I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."

I have to tell y’all something. For the last 48 hours my physical pain has dropped to about 20% of what it has been for — I’m not exaggerating — YEARS. And it could even get better than that! I’ve had this constant sense in the last two days of, whose body is this???
Y’all don’t know how many times I tried to get just from my bed in the morning to the kitchen and would have to stop at every piece of furniture and bend over it and groan. “Help me, Jesus. Help me.”
I’m aware this recovery is long and not linear and I’ll go back-and-forth between good days and bad days. The surgeon told me from the beginning it would not be my last surgery. I’m still tremendously restricted in what I can do and will be for months.
But I’m not waiting a minute longer to give public praise to my gracious God, my merciful Savior, my life and hope and joy. I could never have imagined feeling this way again and can’t remember the last time I did. Years ago.
For all of you who live with unrelenting pain (which by no accident is many of you fellow writers with its brutality on the body), I want you to know I get it and, though I don’t know you personally, lift you up before God‘s throne regularly. With what’s wrong with my bones, I’ll almost certainly be there again unless God forbids it.
I know what it’s like to brave up against ceaseless pain and endure it by the grace of God and cast yourself on him to make it and find him so faithful and I also know what it’s like to just want to scream at the top of your lungs, make it stop!
Jesus is merciful. And he is good and kind even if he entrusts us with pain as a thorn in the flesh for the rest of our days. But I want to speak hope into you this morning. I pray for your reprieve. I pray for your relief. I care so much. Keep the faith. Trust in Christ’s tender love and devotion toward you. And know to your bones that one day, one sweet sweet day, there will be
no
more
pain.
