Looking forward to seeing you on the 15th June @KentCollegeDXB #MathsConfDubai Where we host @EmathsUK. What are you looking forward to most? Please comment/retweet. Outline for the day is below.
@KerryConlon80 @KentCollegeDXB @EmathsUK Signed up to the problem solving session by @mr_alfredb looking forward to seeing how I can apply some ideas to our next cohort of Y7’s. Well done Kerry for all the organising. It will be great to have over 100 maths teachers @KentCollegeDXB next week. #MathsConfDubai
@RJS2212 My concern is that students using it won’t know when it’s right or wrong. And it’s wrong I’m different ways, from procedural errors to calculation errors, to misinterpretation and the odd bit of plane old bonkers. Long term it will iron this out, but short term, it’s an issue.
Is this the way you would find the area? I kept asking #chatgpt4 for different methods and it didn’t disappoint. Interested in anyone with opinions on bring #AI or #LLM their teaching of #maths. Different methods used by #OPENAI shown in thread….
@RJS2212 Great addition. I’m trying to ask the students I teach whether they use chatgpt for maths when they get stuck. They say no, because they think it’s a trap. But I know some do, and I know there are so many issues that can arise from this.
I gave no instruction about explaining the work in simpler terms, so the order in which it presented the methods is interesting. I would really like to hear any and all thoughts on using #ChatGPT or #AI in Maths.
Then it drops down to using simpler processes that would be accessible for a foundation student. (The original question appeared on an IGCSE Foundation and Higher paper)
Just watched the #AI dilemma, after seeing a clip shown in CPD this week. Is this something your school are talking about? Have you heard about any sensible approaches schools are taking to tackle AI issues particularly from a #maths#teaching perspective? https://t.co/BZ28uDR7m1
@Whitehughes The answer it gave to the maths question before this one was actually very good. It also wrote a simple proof that was well explained but it was all over the place with this one.
@missgeog92 If I have a set of 30, I will start with about 4 q’s (or the maximum I can memorise). Then after about 10 I move up to about 6 q’s (creating a new pile) and then after another 10 I move to about 8 q’s. Then I circle back so I’ve done 8 q’s on all.
@oldandrewuk The sound of an unnecessarily solid metal water bottle getting knocked over during a test and terrifying the life out of half the class is a small price to pay if that child can remain hydrated.
