@ddmeyer @joleehill Experience with a lesson is huge. Reading about “look-fors” and common misconceptions is different than experiencing them with kids. Huh… perhaps similar to telling kids about ideas rather than them experiencing them on their own too, I suppose!

A couple years ago, a student said "I know it cancels, but I forgot if it cancels to 0 or 1" so it inspired today's tip of the day to be more precise in language as "cancel" means two things. -5+5 creates a zero pair, 5/5 simplifies to 1.

@benjamindickman 7.5 pieces of size 2/3 is equivalent to 5. 2/3 * 7 =14/3, half of 2/3 is 1/3, so 14/3+1/3=15/3=5.
