A landmark case for whistleblowers in the NHS.
With BMA support, a former NHS chief executive has been awarded £1.4m for unfair dismissal, reinforcing the need to protect those who speak up for patient safety. https://t.co/SNF4Qs0wlE

Today’s Covid Inquiry report lays bare the Government’s catastrophic failure to manage the pandemic, as our council chair @thomasdolphin told Sky News
"The job isn't done. The Secretary of State said himself that pay restoration is a journey, not an event, and we were expecting there to be more steps on that journey." @thomasdolphin speaks about resident doctor strikes in England which begin today.
"We've put forward a whole range of proposals to Mr Streeting, both on jobs and on pay - very reasonable proposals talking about multi-year deals, progression over the course of the Parliament. We want to take strikes completely off the table." @ERunswickBMA on BBC this morning.

Despite continued warnings from @BMAResidents competition ratios for doctors looking to get on specialty training programmes have soared again this year.
Fresh data published by NHS England for 2025 shows a staggering 91,999 applications were made for 12,833 specialty training posts.
That means the overall ratio of applications to places has jumped from 4.68:1 last year to 7.17:1. [1/🧵]

Vaccines save lives and prevent disease. Doctors know this. Our patients benefit every day from vaccines.
It is dangerous and irresponsible to promote pseudo-science or anti-science messages like this. Reform has to go further than just “not endorsing what he says”.
“I’m genuinely at a point where I’m considering leaving medicine… if I walk away, who will be left to advocate for other doctors like me?"
Our survey revealed 100s of disabled and neurodivergent doctors are considering leaving the workforce due to lack of support.
