If I could get Winnipeg city councilors to just watch some not-just-bikes on YouTube I'm sure we could reevaluate infrastructure priorities. @Vivs4PDW@JaniceLukes@Mayor_Bowman@B_MayesSTV@jbrowaty Start here: https://t.co/LydG7kU96H
@inerati There's one school of thought that the city requires you to set your house back from the road to ensure they can widen the road in the future. Or so that cars have wider unobstructed views for safety, or so that there's a bigger buffer before cars crash into your house. Pick one!
@maximumpower55 @itskeean@no2hater What does manufacturing capacity have to do with HSR? France has the most high speed rail in Europe and produce fewer manufactured goods. (By sector revenue)
We just need to focus on smart infrastructure projects and we can get it done.
@constans I find many don't have enough space available for my shop, they often beep at me for not bagging fast enough, if something shifts on the platform it freaks out because it thinks I missed scanning something and they add like 4 unnecessary prompts on the screen.
@DrunknCanuck@MadHabber Why should our healthcare stop with our teeth?
And literally everyone qualifies for $10 daycare, theres no cutoff. We do desperately need more daycares though, and it would be great if we professionalized training like they do in Europe
@emm_a I didn't say it bothered me, just that I read the word "fuck" and without further context I assume the author is mad.
Anyways I'll get out of your replies now!
@TGCTS I think it's a holdover from the past when a full apartment with a kitchen and a bathroom was differentiated from "single room occupancy" or "boarding house" which used to be the affordable housing for young single people.
Residential Multi-family (RMF) is the zoning code as well
@TGCTS@brent_bellamy To that point, "multi family" is a generic description of a building with multiple dwellings within. It doesn't mean specifically families with children.
This is like realestate 101 stuff.
@EcoFashionByBG@Markshawtoronto@adamosmak Yeah the liberals are super centrist IMO but I agree that the scandals aren't great.
Anyone hiring McKinsey can't be trusted.
@PAirbender@Markshawtoronto I really wish the party would pivot back to core principles: unions and social programs.
Which are the key reasons why I voted for a successful NDP candidate in the past 2 elections, my MP has always worked to push these 2 points.
@helenlw_ A scramble intersection improves pedestrian safety and reduces walking travel times. These both work to shift people out of cars and onto sidewalks. This reduces the need for car parking nearby which makes housing more affordable because you don't need a garage.
@surlygopher@profplum99@timdesilva@dggoldst Back then there were very few CEOs paid enough to worry about this. In the 60s the typical ratio between average worker pay and the CEO pay was 1 to 20. Today that ratio is 1 to 399 (and they pay lower tax rates)
@samuel_spitz Dude with 2 kids there's not time for any one of these.
7 hours sleep
8.5 hours working
1.5 hours commuting
1 hour making dinner
1 hour feeding children and self
1 hour changing diapers and bathing kids
1 hour cleaning house
1 hour putting kids to bed
2 hours left.
