I don’t doubt larger markets skew the numbers. I assume since no one has pushed back on that increase that it is publicly available data. Bottom line is that limiting funding is the only way to restrain spending. Public officials will universally spend what they can get. I want local and state figures (we’ll ignore the ridiculousness of the federal gov for the moment) to have to prove they need to spend more money and justify increases on taxes and fees . Not just tick up housing values to grab more property tax. It’s a massive burden on Florida citizens.
@FlaBryan@Juarez_Brock@JeffreyBrandes@RonDeSantis With spending up from $32 billion to $60 billion, there is zero doubt that $ 100 million can be cut. There’s easily $10-15 billion of unnecessary spending and waste occurring. Conservatively.
There are a few things Holly desperately hopes you don’t ask.
The first is exactly how much more money Florida schools spent last year compared to 2020. It varies somewhat by county, but the average is that their budgets increased by more than three times the inflation rate.
The second thing Holly hopes you don’t ask is how much-or little-of that additional revenue was actually spent on hiring teachers and giving teachers raises. The truth is that this amount barely kept up with inflation. The bulk of the excess revenue went to expanding layers of administrative and bureaucratic overhead.
They won’t tell you this, of course. They will tell you that cutting their budget will mean laying teachers off. But that is solely because they choose to lay teachers off instead of administrators and bureaucratic drones.
The same people that fabricated the 'Florida is unaffordable' narrative are the people complaining about the plan to remove or reduce property taxes. You can't make this up.
Orange County government wasteful and excessive spending by the numbers:
2025=$190M
2026=$300M
Total over 6 years: $747M
It’s clear and obvious that they will not stop spending recklessly unless taxpayers rise up and constitutionally stop them.
It’s time for property tax reform.
First @NASCAROReillyAP pole since 2018, has it been that long? 😅
Thank you to the 9 crew and @JRMotorsports for making it happen. Should be a fun race!
Time in Federal Government…
Alexander Hamilton: 5 years
George Washington: 8 years
Thomas Jefferson: 10 years
John Adams: 12 years
Bernie Sanders: 35 years
Nancy Pelosi: 39 years
Mitch McConnell: 41 years
Chuck Schumer: 45 years
It explains everything.
Founders vs Grifters
This myth just won't die. In 2024 alone, it's estimated Jeff Bezos paid almost $3 billion in taxes. Painting rich people as tax avoiders plays great on social media, but it's not reality. The U.S. has the most progressive tax system in the developed world.
No TSA line tracker on CNN. No more posts about lines online.
They only existed as it "hurt" Trump and Republicans.
These things are discussed if they hurt Trump and Republicans.
That's just how the media works.
Sorry, but Dan Orlovsky is a dipshit. He’s ruined his reputation over an idiotic position that clearly is financially driven. I’ll turn the tv off every time he shows up from this point forward.
