@JamesADuffy Our puppy is unfazed as well! We had to close the windows because the rain was coming in horizontally. Glad you’re making the most of it! Stay safe
@_kim_collett The 1-on-1 means the students feel like they have a connection to actual librarian, so more likely to reach out for help in future classes/assignments. Think through ways to help students that struggle with reading articles (maybe a writing center contact to help)?
@_kim_collett So much good stuff here! Lots of undergrads approach with varied levels of understanding of searches and also varied confidence reading the research they will find. Our ref librarians created a tutorial (so we do flipped) and then meet 1-on-1 with my students- AMAZING. 1/2
@jorowags Thank you for sharing! Your idea and others in the thread are just what I needed - some wintertime inspiration between semesters and possible addition to the spring. Will do attribution- would you like any additional follow up?
@sam_morris9 @SwehlaTessa @MizMcCoy Great article! So true-we need to take the time to think deeply, study, and learn all we can and apply knowledge/increase awareness. There’s much to take away from this past year regarding health. I’ve seen profound impact on so many college students.
@thevinayakjain@MizMcCoy@DukeHHL@HealthHums@HumanitiesUc @MHHS_IUPUI Thank you for responding! Many see compelling reasons for med hum in pre-professional & prof spaces- I think our best outcomes will be when both providers & future patients have been able to think through health & medical humanities early on. Your thoughts help reinforce this!
Academic Twitter: Help! Working on presentation about NEED for undergrad Health/Med Humanities classes. Arguing that EARLY exposure to complexities of health/health sys is VITAL for students to ADVOCATE for self/family/friends (b/c once recognize need, already mired in system)1/3
Have 2 students on panel & student perspectives from course exp- Need anecdotal, student-ctrd info & research (if you know of/can share) from/about students NOT planning to work in Health & those that are. @DoctorMcKeever @AngeLarimer @MedHumChat#medhumchat#healthhumanities 2/3
