Thanks for Ed at @MavisTire @NTB Neptune City NJ for helping me air up my 4 tires. I made a donation in his name per his request. Such a great guy Mavis - seriously :)

“Given the success of our current approach to aviation safety, I have to ask: Why are lawmakers now considering weakening the very standards that make our skies the safest in the world? As Congress considers the FAA reauthorization legislation, which sets the standards for aviation regulations, air safety champions like Illinois Democrats U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Rep. Jesús “Chuy” Garcia, who have been leading the fight for safe skies, are facing strong headwinds. Special interest lobbyists in Washington are arguing to arbitrarily raise the pilot retirement age without analyzing the safety and operational consequences and roll back pilot qualification and training requirements, the repercussions of which are clear to all.

"These proposed changes to air safety are driven by some airlines’ pursuit of profit at any cost.”

[Capt. Jason Ambrosi @ALPAPresident]

There are proposals in Congress to arbitrarily raise the airline pilot retirement age to 67 without scientific study or operational consequences analysis. @ALPAPilots elected reps voted unanimously to oppose any change to the pilot retirement age; join us in taking action.

[Air Line Pilots Association @ALPAPilots]

Raising the retirement age is not only a solution in search of a problem, but it is also a proposal that has not been studied or vetted by aviation safety expertsthose upon whom we all rely to keep flying safe, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT), both of whom oppose a change for exactly this reason.

In fact, @USDOT @SecretaryPete recently told Fox News Radio, "I would want to see a lot more data before we could feel comfortable with any kind of change" to the pilot retirement age.

There has been a lot of talk about how a change in the mandatory retirement age of airline pilots from 65 to 67 will affect the U.S. airline industry. We’re sharing some common myths and the truth behind the claims.

For the older set, may I recommend “4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)”, Simon & Garfunkel’s “America”, “Back in the USA” by Chuck Berry, & “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles https://t.co/IP81vSFHft

@JoeNBC We play Charles’ Am the Beautiful every 4th. I was driving home to MN from NYC after my plane was diverted to PHL during the 911 attack. Ray’s song was playing on the local Chicago FM station as I cruised by in my rental car and gave me hope #celebrateamerica #NeverForget

Happy #CanadaDay! On this day in 1867 the Canadian Confederation was formed, which would eventually lead to full sovereignty for #Canada in 1982. We join all our members in Canada in wishing all Canadians a very safe and #HappyCanadaDay!

Congress is poised to pass legislation that threatens to weaken aviation safety, increase flight delays and cancellations, and undermine the rights of U.S. workers. Tell Congress to keep flying safe: https://t.co/Mh2Dq2T9JB

America is experiencing the safest period in aviation history, but the regulations that keep us safe are under attack. Take a stand for safety and write to your elected representatives urging them to preserve our current safety standards. https://t.co/hvBjlGIuJZ
