@CaolanReports Think again, closing civilian airports requires total air superiority which Ukr does not have even in own Western parts. If drone strikes could 'close' commercial airports, half the airports in the Middle East would have been shut down.
@RALee85@nytimes@washingtonpost US & Russian officials view risk of a nuclear Iran slightly differently, US views it as lethal whereas Russia as manageable - IF civilian. Both know Iran civilian program (Russian run) can spill into military use - thats what US is watching closely and needs Russia on-side.
Agony of the EU... Would have been much easier in 2022 to say to Biden: "Make call to Putin and tell him there will be no NATO in Ukraine"... Just one call
@McFaul Why would PRC want to seize Taiwan? Its part of China, politically autonomous for little longer but autonomy is untenable, just like Greenlands would be next to US.
@zerohedge Think of a root-cause of this conflict - there is not a minutest chance that any foreign boot will be allowed to peace-keep or step on Ukrainian soil.
@witte_sergei Correct. Not a single foreign boot will be allowed by Russia to peace-keep in Ukraine. https://t.co/TwRZJsM3ty. And sadly it may take 6,12,18 months for Ukraine to realize non-negotiability of that position.
🇷🇺 "Russia cannot enter Europe because of its size. We don’t fit in the height of the doorway, we don’t fit in the shoulder width, and we’re not used to bending down."
- President Putin.
@McFaul Russia not only provoked but compelled to disarm it, now slowly, painfully and at great cost to Ukraine and itself. $60bn, $600bn will not make difference to provocation outcome, will just take time - settle in and watch how Ukraine corrodes
@McFaul There are 5 US interests: to prevent attack of WMD; to ensure allies survival; to prevent hostile power on U.S. border; to ensure viability of global systems and establish productive relations with nations that could become adversaries. Ukraine is not US ally or vital interest.
