I will never forget the time a student gave a presentation on a numerical optimization problem and claimed "To do this rigorously, you'd need to use a machine learning algorithm."
@crzwdjk@whitequark The sampling interval looks to be 5min, and the spike appears to be on its way up over 2 periods (10min) - not what I'd expect from a vehicle passing by. Though it could be if the t-10min increase is just part of background trend, source of which is unclear. I'd guess weather.
@whitequark Indoor or outdoor sensors? AFAIK aircon filters do not do well at suppressing PM<10 so external conditions would be a factor. Dunno where you are, but smoke/dust blowing on a wind change can bring fast changes. In summer here there were AQI swings of a few hundred over an hour.
NSW police kettled a bunch of folks in Central Station, Sydney, and pepper-sprayed them in a confined space.
It's hard to imagine this happening if the police weren't there, and people could just go home.
Thread, with CW for police violence…

Two books I found profoundly informative about Australia, what came before it, what it's wrought, and what it stands to learn:
* Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta.
* Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe
There's always more.
I don’t know everything. I have biases - we all do. That’s why I seek out other point of views. Here are two books and a movie that broadened my worldview:
@mrbillstunes Physicist w/ math degree and music training here.
In short "it depends" - sounds like you're looking for a subjective change in audio? Some extra info (like what "fix" and "something" mean, even room dimensions maybe) could help find an answer.
@MoodyChunes answer is helpful.
@timhollo This stream diagram seems like a great explanatory tool, but that's not really how money works, is it? Or is each representing a separate financial body? I figured
$$$ -> Govt? -> Service contracts, but it's all a bit of a mystery to me.
