Greatest sign of intelligence imo is able to take advice regardless of who it’s from.
I always wonder if there was some sort of advice that was 100% guaranteed to grow your business as an example, would u have the humility to listen & take it the same way if it was told by a beginner or less experienced
100% agreed i’ve seen some of the smartest people i’ve met at way less revenue than the next guy just because they didn’t have the one connect or opportunity to let their competence shine through
If you’re actually good at what you do it’ll always pan out in the end only way you lose is if you throw in the towel
I was at dinner last night and one of my friends was saying to “only take advice from those one level above you. If you’re doing $1m/m the guy doing $100m/m has nothing to offer you, only listen to the guy doing $10m/m”
I’ve never disagreed with something more. When you’re building a model of where you envision your future, your brain will naturally start constructing boundaries based on the limitations you give it. If you shoot for the mediocre next step your brain will find a way to achieve it but it will find an unbelievably quicker way if you just simply shot higher.
peak AI psychosis is setting up 25 hillclimbing agents every night before you go to bed so you can wake up and smell all the optimizations they're so excited to tell you about after you make coffee
every morning is christmas morning in the singularity
what doesn't kill you introduces you to carl jung, marcus aurelius, epictetus, friedrich nietzsche, james baldwin, bell hooks, audre lorde, frantz fanon, paulo freire, joseph campbell, alan watts, ram dass, gary zukav, brene brown, gabor mate, shadow work, attachment theory, nervous-system regulation, ancestral trauma, existentialism, stoicism, meditation, emotional intelligence, neuroplasticity, metacognition, pattern recognition, game theory, delusional optimism, boundaries and discernment.
a marketer / operationally strong founder that goes technical is infinitely more valuable than the MIT engineer
they build for scale, build backwards from what is marketable, and also are able to hold eye contact with investors for more than 2 seconds??
what more could you ask for
If I were to restart Ecom from zero, I'd focus on 2 things:
Skills and capital.
⠀
If you're starting with zero skills, learn the basics online for free first.
There’s plenty of resources online nowadays.
⠀
The ideal situation from there is to work for an Ecom brand or agency. Learn while you earn.
⠀
@ecomuniversity is also a great option. As a beginner, you can learn how to make creatives for Ecom brands from scratch, practice your ad skills, and get paid if it does well.
Most of y’all skip that part entirely.
And dive right into starting your own brand. Then burn through $10k testing products, hit zero, and quit forever.
Meanwhile, I spent my first year freelancing on Upwork and working at an FB ads agency.
Made money WHILE learning the skills I'd later use to scale brands to $100k days.
⠀
You may succeed with your first product or your 10th. No guarantee when.
⠀
What decides it is how many reps you get in before you run out monni.
Feedback loops compound into skill, but you can't run them broke. Run out of cash before it clicks, and you're done. Game over.
⠀
Most of you are trying to fund your own education.
The move is to get someone else's budget to pay for your reps instead of your savings.
⠀
Then you've got both skill and capital, and you go build your own thing.
⠀
Tis the way of the chad scaler.
Everyone is so worried about making $100k/m at the cost of their reputation
A stripe screenshot will not introduce you to a $10B whale client
I see so many people including my close friends building businesses that they know for a fact they’ll have to distance themselves from eventually
My favorite question to ask is “can you imagine yourself telling your kids that you insert absurd unique mechanism” and watching them look at me and start mouth breathing
This is a ruthless battle
and you don’t get a second life
Do good business and you will be rewarded tenfold in the end
Its a long game of who can stay up the longest, not who can get there the fastest
Stay in the game
as a founder there is nothing beneath your time if it moves revenue
broken feature -> hop on claude
leads not being dialed post opt in -> hit the phones
csms ghosting clients -> hop in yourself
at the end of the day YOUR neck and rep is on the line for these fuck ups
2 years ago around this time I was cooking creatives with my best friends in my parents house with the $39 Amazon Lighting and TTS tripod.
Last month we spent over 7 figs across all accounts.
Keep pushing
