@shipwreckedcrew Read about that. Dad landed a couple of days later. The French consulate came to his hometown and presented him with the French Legion of Honor a few months before he died in 2018. For that I have since refrained from publicly criticizing that country.
We Hogtown kids chanted it with the crowd whenever opposing teams took the field six decades ago, and it had become an established tradition well before then.
For those who do not know, “Gator Bait”was around long before Lawrence Wright. Regardless, it was merely a fun chant at the opponent - nothing more, nothing less. Anyone with a brain knows this.
