@AidanCTweets@HallisseyC@mara_yamauchi@RRRunnersUK Excellent showing on any measure. For example, Redway Runners, one of PR’s biggest clubs with a total of 4289 members, had 508 runners last week ie only just over twice as many as RRR had today
@AidanCTweets@HallisseyC@mara_yamauchi As of now, the parkrun app is saying there were 237 club members at 133 events today. That means 14% of locations had @RRRunnersUK representation - pretty good for a club which only came into existence 5 weeks ago!
@HallisseyC@RRRunnersUK I am one of those people - I’ve recently signed up to PR and completed my first one specifically because I was inspired by your campaign. Without you I’d still be thinking that I need to get fitter but actively avoiding PR due to their failure to recognise reality
A new report makes a compelling case that the proposed Conversion Practices Bill would undermine legitimate clinical exploration and make it harder for children with complex psychological difficulties to access experienced care. Working with these children is demanding clinical work. It requires experienced clinicians.
The exceptionalism in this area is striking. Clinicians routinely explore patients’ beliefs, how they developed and what they mean to them. Why should beliefs about gender be placed beyond exploration? It is already against professional ethics to impose your own beliefs or values on a patient. Exploring someone’s experience does not mean deciding in advance what conclusion they should reach.
Whatever assurances the government gives, this unnecessary bill will further discourage experienced clinicians, who are hardly short of work, from taking on these cases. That will make it harder for these children to get the help they need.

@Jos_11111@HallisseyC@guidoacasa The difference is that there is a basic expectation that people should run in the right age group but no recognition of biological reality in the gender categories
@CharlieWalsham_ I completely agree with this starting point but having worked in the public sector for many years I also see how incredibly complex bringing about meaningful improvement is so I’m not sure it’s as simple as it sounds. But constant top-down change is definitely a huge problem
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx I'm disagreeing which is not the same as dismissing. As I said in reply to another of your posts, I'm signing out of this discussion now but wish you all the best
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx I'm signing off from this discussion now as I don't think there is anything else I can add at this point - we do not agree and that is ok. I'll continue to advocate for women's views about having a female-only category to be taken notice of
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx Thanks for engaging over this long thread and I'm really disappointed that you have stooped to insults now. I'm very happy for you to disagree with me but as I've taken time to listen to and engage thoughtfully with your perspective it's a shame you do not show the same respect
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx As I have said repeatedly, male and female biological categories are universally recognised in all kinds of sports and physical activities and only make sense if based on actual biology. If it’s not in any way competitive why do PR even bother advertising ‘first’ or ‘records’?
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx Biologically (and in law) they are not female and they have male physical advantage. It’s not about controlling definitions of words but recognising reality when it comes to meaningful classification of results
@trailtreaderxx@ruairidhtaylor But don’t you think it’s fundamentally unfair that someone could be designated ‘first female’ who isn’t actually female while those who are biologically female could never actually beat them due to male physical advantage? Why have categories at all when they are so unfair?
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx Regarding ‘validity’ – I’m not asking for categories for every single variation but simply think that if you are going to have male & female categories they only make sense at a biological level 2/2
@ruairidhtaylor@trailtreaderxx That may be so, but the fact remains that PR is currently prioritising the feelings of men who believe they are women over women who do not want to be in a category with males and that doesn’t seem right to me
