@dg_davies @ClarkeMicah Fractions and imperial liquid measures are linked: I used to buy half-pint cartons of milk. I bought potatoes, though, in stones
@ClarkeMicah You may be glad to hear that the Iceland shop still sells its own-brand milk in pints (with their four-pint plastic bottle alternatvely labelled 2.272 litres) https://t.co/DXBsb2HVZk
@ClarkeMicah It's good to be back in our real time this morning (with noon being midday again). Changing clocks is such a nuisance: the Chiltern Railways website couldn’t cope with it last night: https://t.co/Uqg6yqvvCc
There is a technical glitch with the site due to the clocks going back, the website thinks it is later than it is. We are trying to resolve this issue; please ask your local station staff or use https://t.co/oThKXmqaje to check your journeys tonight ^LM
@LarkeyMetcalfe@ClarkeMicah That's just silly. I would get a train for that sort of distance. I meant going for walks for pleasure (up to ten miles): they are much more interesting without a car.
@DavidOlusoga Well worth watching by people like me who thought at the time that it was harmless fun. Have you seen the depiction of Christian Cole, who in 1873 was the first Black African student at the University of Oxford? https://t.co/C8ELgwHkPn
.@ClarkeMicah I agree that the abutment holding up such an important railway bridge should never have been allowed to get into a terrible state, but those who toiled to put it right deserve praise, and Nuneham bridge is fully open again today (Sat 10 June) https://t.co/wHMx1Ithut
@AndyVee15@ClarkeMicah I am older than Mr Hitchens, but I have never seen such an important railway bridge collapse before. Passengers travelling from Oxford to Paddington have had to begin/end their journey with a bus to/from Didcot since 3 April. (Trains to Marylebone not affected, though.)
@ClarkeMicah @PaulCliftonBBC Network Rail should have repaired the crumbling abutment much earlier in its deterioration. This earlier video (which includes an interesting brief history of the bridge) reveals that it has been sinking for years and shows how dangerous it had become: https://t.co/FJB2zk2mio
🏗️We're working 24/7 to get the railway between Oxford and Didcot reopened
🦺Prior to the recent rapid deterioration of the viaduct, its condition posed no safety risk
