Glad to be offered this opportunity by #RSCChemBio#RSCInorg#RSCPoster to share our work from @McFarland_Labs@UTAChemistry on "Exploring the Mechanistic Possibilities for Light-responsive Metallodrugs in Phototherapy"
Happy to answer any questions!!👩🔬
@bhkenlo@McFarland_Labs@UTAChemistry@RoySocChem Thank you. We measure photosubstitution vs singlet oxygen quantum yields. For this family, we find that the photosubstitution pathway diminishes photo toxicity toward cells.
@flowithefish @McFarland_Labs@UTAChemistry@RoySocChem As we showed that co-ligand matters for PDT activities under both hypoxia and normoxia, we are designing and synthesizing compounds with different co-ligands and PDT ligand and testing in cell assays with diff. cell lineswith diff. light treatment under both hypoxia and normoxia.
@vishal_iiserb@McFarland_Labs@UTAChemistry@RoySocChem Thank you. Interstitial PDT is a possibility although surgical resection followed by PDT (photodynamic cytoreduction after surgery) would be ideal. PDT doesn't make sense for solid tumors that can be partially removed with surgery.
@JoannaOrtyl@McFarland_Labs@UTAChemistry@RoySocChem@Photo4Chem@PhotoHiTech Thank you😊 Compound 1 has better aqueous solubility than Compound 2. The stock solution of compound 1 and compound 2 is made with 10%DMSO in H2O and 100% DMSO respectively. We also found that the aqueous solubility can be increased by liposomal and micellar formulation.
Excited to share my poster on the development of some hypoxia-active Ru(II) PDT agents! "Evaluation of a New Class of Highly Active Ruthenium (II) Photosensitizers That Show Anticancer Effects in Hypoxia"
