Preparatory moves from the Government in the #privacy space, as a standalone Privacy Commissioner is announced, and more funding expected for the OAIC in the coming budget.
Interesting comments in @WIRED from @sama on the future direction of generative AU, it’s not just big training data sets that matter. https://t.co/bgn8TkI6og
@kirbywinfield@JessTheVC This is it. Consumer protection exists where there is a public offering, by requiring the company raising capital to meet stricter rules (offering docs etc), but that is too expensive/laborious to expect a startup to do (and arguably it isn't a terribly effective tool).
@matthew_d_green Same fact situation that led to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's successful Federal Court case against Google last year: https://t.co/kLllUzbaOB
Hey #indiedev#gamedev, I turned down a pretty big publishing contract today for about half a million in total investment (I'm a solo dev). They genuinely wanted to work with me, but couldn't see what was exploitative about the terms. I'm not under an NDA, wanna talk about it? 👀
Our economy is dramatically transforming ; Afterpay is our biggest ever takeover, Atlassian market cap exceeds $US80b & Canva reportedly raising at $US30b. Throw in emerging group of Airwallex, Deputy, Rokt, CultureAmp etc plus thousands more startups with big dreams. So exciting
Unfortunately, this behaviour is pretty much the norm - organisations asking for "consent" (which you must give to receive their services) and not being open about how information is used is also a sign of how immature their data & privacy practices are https://t.co/ycOSlkch19
Rocket Lab has now contracted with NASA to send a rocket to *Mars*, amazing stuff from an ambitious NZ company 🚀 @RocketLab and @Peter_J_Beck https://t.co/gOdqNBa6W9
Interesting question: is a permaban justifiable on Twitter's own policies, or are the rules being made up on the fly? Not Easy, Not Unreasonable, Not Censorship: The Decision To Ban Trump From Twitter https://t.co/2P2TnfcIJV via @Techdirt
