MESSAGE TO CA FRATERNITY BY ICAI DTC CHAIRMAN, CA PIYUSH CHHAJED:
Dear All,
This is to further update you on the steps taken by ICAI to bring to the notice of CBDT the genuine concerns on account of the delayed release of utilities and technical glitches in the portal and the consequent difficulty faced in compliance within the statutory timelines.
1) The members are aware that President, ICAI had represented on behalf of ICAI to Chairman, CBDT on 17.9.2025, bringing out the dire need for shifting the due date of ITR Filing, Tax Audit and Trust Renewal. Also, we had represented for providing relief in due date of payment of advance tax (15th September) due to portal glitches.
2) We also made an announcement on 19.09.2025 to seek from members the difficulties faced by them in navigating the online efiling portal from perspective of Tax Audit and ITR Filing. In response to same, we received 1200 plus responses along with screen shots.
3) The said concerns have been duly compiled and escalated to the Member (IT), Member (Systems &FS), DGIT(Systems) and CIT(ITA) on 22.09.2025, for necessary action and resolution.
4) May we mention that, prior to this, request for extension of due date was made way back in the year 2021 on account of COVID. Now, after 4 years, ICAI is making continuous representations considering the genuine difficulties of taxpayers and members on account of late release of utilities coupled with technical glitches in the portal.
5) May we also mention that there has been discussion on status of our representations with Under Secretary, Government of India, and we have been informed that they are examining all the representations received.
Hoping for the best.
With Warm Regards,
CA Piyush S Chhajed
