Our Scientist @HShewade was invited to present #TNKET at the RePORT International Annual Meeting, Mumbai, 30 Sept - 01 Oct 2026.

'Tamil Nadu Kasanoi Erappila Thittam: First Statewide Differentiated TB Care Initiative to Reduce TB Deaths'

Presenting during the first session on day 1 titled 'Implementation Research', he shared how the capture of five simple triage variables for severe illness (BMI, pedal oedema, ability to stand without supprt, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation) at TB diagnosis contributed towards triaging for severe illness, which in turn translated into statewide TB death rate reduction (in 2024 and 2025) once appropriate inpatient care was provided.

He also presented how #TNKET contributed to the development of a web-based calculator (compatible with mobile phones) to predict TB deaths at the time of diagnosis. At diagnosis, we can now predict who dies based on easily available patient characteristics at diagnosis (including the five triage variables)
