What revenue does Apple need to justify a $4.57T market cap?

$837 billion. About 1.9× its current $451B — which would also make it the largest-revenue company in history.

Aswath Damodaran's framework reframes the "overpriced or not" debate: skip the argument, solve the equation backwards. Take today's market cap, and at the company's net margin and ROE, ask what steady-state revenue would actually justify it.

I built it across the S&P 500. ~490 companies, each classified into a Damodaran risk tier (D1 High → D5 Low) by sector and beta, then run through the Gordon-growth rearrangement. The output is a 3-question verdict per ticker:

→ Possible? (within the sector's addressable market)
→ Plausible? (matches a mature peer)
→ Probable? (achievable at current revenue CAGR)

A few that stood out:
• NFLX, META — within ~1.3–1.5×, achievable timelines
• GOOG, MSFT — ~1.4–1.6×, defensible but tight
• AAPL, AMZN — ~1.9×, would set all-time revenue records
• TSLA — the outlier, by an order of magnitude
