My last resort would be to use an agent to work through my old workspace and extract as much of the history and context as possible. I’ve held off because it’s a crappy workaround, and I’d much rather have a supported way to export my own data or change my email without losing access to it.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve been trying that, but unfortunately I still don’t have access. My original ChatGPT account usually received new features quickly. I’ve recently had to create a new account, so I wondered whether that might explain the delay, although that’s just a guess.
The bigger issue is why I had to start again. I sold one of my businesses, and my original personal ChatGPT account uses an email address belonging to that business, which I can’t take with me. That account was also used to create our ChatGPT Business workspace.
My biggest mistake was not realising that all the context I was building in that workspace would be locked into it. I used it for personal matters and multiple businesses under my holding company. The business I sold represented only a small part of that history.
Even as the workspace admin, I can’t export that history and context. I’ve also tried repeatedly to change the email attached to my personal account. I even gave a staff member admin access and reduced my own role to a standard member to see whether that would help. It didn’t.
The only potential workaround I’ve found appears to involve disconnecting my personal account from the workspace or closing the workspace. That might allow me to change the email, but my understanding is that I would then lose access to the workspace’s history or potentially delete it altogether.
It’s frustrating that an email address I chose years ago has left me facing the loss of so much context, most of which has nothing to do with the business I sold.
Is there anything you can suggest or do to help here, @thsottiaux I’d love to retain my original account under an email I control, preserve my workspace history and, if possible, bring across the context I’ve built in my new account.
@mattyp Here’s my “Foundry” Bot.
Foundry names the thing you are actually standing up (product, project, agent, workspace, reference, or cleanup), writes the operating files, and hands off at 97%. It does not build.

@thsottiaux And with this, the ability to fully control my staff accounts and issue access to them and revoke without them taking company context with them.
Flexibility on staff seats as well. Not everyone requires the same pricing tier.
