It's not complicated. I do not hate Bryson. He's great for the game, but he's not great for the game when he runs and hides. Media amplifies stories, and he isn't participating. That's his prerogative but I find it long term self-defeating.

What's not endearing is his childish and immature declining. If he spoke to the media like a professional there would be no issue.

That is a model local rule a course can adopt. It is not the standard rules of golf, and surely if you play "at a very high level" you know this is not adopted in any tournament. Although in theory a pro tournament could adopt this model local rule as well. So yes, pros and amateurs play the same rules.
