America can actually cut off Nigeria from WhatsApp and all other western services if there is any political disagreement with them, and the unfortunate thing is that we don’t have any local alternative solution.

Russia, Iran and some other countries are currently suffering from it. Last 2 weeks Mercury Bank removed several countries including Nigeria with no reason.

Over dependency on foreign services exposes us to huge societal risk.

We need to clone all foreign solutions and start innovating from there. That’s how China was built. We need tech entrepreneurs that can start expanding in value.

Our Ministry of Science and Technology, Digital Economy etc need to stop taking pictures and start creating this part way.

Let me help translate:

“We have to balance growth and profitability” = find someone to fire

“AI unlocks efficiencies” = who else can we fire?

“Let’s document your processes in detail” = you are the one being fired

"There are smart people everywhere" = Can someone in the Philippines do this?

"If there is extra budget" = No

"Maybe next quarter" = Also no

“Due to Macro uncertainty” = forecast is definitely wrong

"2021 was an unusual time" = Stop asking for raises and promotions. You are still paid way too much

"Economic headwinds" = Layoffs are coming

"Based on complex accounting rules…" = I want to end this conversation
