I have been speaking to people in Burco Somaliland and they tell me almost one year ago President Cirro cane to Burco with much fanfare, laid the foundations of “a new $20m hospital in Burco”, and almost year later apart from the original foundation stone nothing has been built.

Earlier today, clashes broke out between local residents in Sheikh and the Somaliland military. The conflict began when the Somaliland military instructed residents to evacuate the area because it was too close to a military base, but the residents refused. One person was killed. The deceased has been identified as Abdi Qabil. May Allah bless his soul and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

This young woman from the United Arab Emirates eloquently explained the history of the Republic of Somaliland.

She stated that the Republic of Somaliland is a genuine nation, possessing a flag, currency, passport, military, and all the attributes of statehood.

She also explained that Somalia and Somaliland are two distinct countries.

Indeed, discerning people can distinguish between a country whose people have failed to determine their own future and one where the people manage their own affairs and enjoy a peaceful life.....
