Lithium carbonate fell from RMB 156k/t to RMB 143k/t in September.

The bigger shock? SMM revised its weekly inventory estimate from just 70k+ tons to 169.3k tons.

Meanwhile, mines & smelters in Tibet, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Qinghai and Tianqi said they had never provided SMM with inventory data.

So who’s right?

Upstream says one thing. Downstream and traders are left guessing.
