More than 425,000 children are in immigration court without an attorney.
That means children are trying to understand hearings, deadlines, and the threat of deportation without someone by their side.
No child should have to go through that alone.

Unaccompanied children's legal services are under attack, and the funding that makes this work possible is at risk.
Add your name to join KIND and members of Congress advocating for continued funding for children’s legal services.

I am privileged to serve on the board of @supportKIND, the nation’s largest legal service provider to unaccompanied children. The work has been done. Yet the government won’t pay what it owes, over $20M, some unpaid since December, and is now targeting KIND and others who defend the due process rights of children. 70+ members of Congress from both parties have asked it to honor those contracts. This isn’t about politics. It’s about the rule of law, due process and the greatest countryin the history of the world keeping its wor
On June 11, federal agents visited KIND’s DC headquarters without a warrant in an operation targeting legal service providers for unaccompanied children.

As the administration begins to end protection for TPS holders, we must not ignore the truth.
This policy will separate families and leave thousands of children unaccompanied.

KIND condemns the Senate’s budget bill for gutting protections for unaccompanied children.
It fast-tracks deportations, removes safeguards, and puts kids at greater risk of trafficking and abuse.
This is not policy—it’s cruelty.

🚨 The House just passed a bill that strips away core protections for unaccompanied children.
🔺It guts due process.
🔺It imposes crushing fees.
🔺It sends kids back into harm’s way.
This is not a funding measure. It’s a direct attack on child safety.

I am so deeply angry over the murder of these beautiful young people.
Sarah Milgrim was gunned down simply for being a Jew outside a Jewish event. She had devoted her life to building bridges — working with Tech2Peace to bring young Israelis and Palestinians together through dialogue and technology.
The killer knew nothing about her compassion, her commitment to peace, or the values she lived by. He saw a Jew and decided she didn’t deserve to live.
Yaron Lischinsky had a Jewish father and a Christian mother. He was a practicing Christian who chose to tie his fate to the people of Israel. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming an Israeli diplomat — and he was living that dream.
The murderer didn’t care about his ideals, his love for others, or his belief in coexistence. He saw someone tied to Israel — and pulled the trigger.
The text of the House Budget Reconciliation plan paints a catastrophic future for unaccompanied children. Without adequate protection, these children are vulnerable to exploitation and other dangers.
Congress MUST reject this harmful bill.

Check out my op-ed on why the creation of an NJ Solicitor General's office has been and will continue to be good for New Jersey, regardless of the party in power. Jeremy Feigenbaum deserves credit for establishing the office as one of the nation's best!

A 4-year-old stood in NYC immigration court, alone, clutching a pink plushy toy. She’s one of thousands of unaccompanied children expected to navigate a system built for adults.
Thousands of unaccompanied kids face immigration court alone—putting them at risk of exploitation, trafficking, and harm.
KIND urges Congress to pass the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act to ensure they have legal protection.
