This is what happens when the subway is down in Toronto. That’s because transit, not cars, does the heavy lifting when it comes to mobility in this city. Just because cars take up a lot of space doesn’t mean they are the backbone to how we get around. Hopping on a bike, now.

Three cars, with likely three people in them, taking up 50% of the space. Great photo to demonstrate the inefficiency of cars and why planning a growing and dense city around them is a loosing proposition.

If you remove the bike lane from this street the cyclists don't go away - they are entitled by law to take the travel lane.

This is why bike lanes reduce congestion: not only are they more efficient at moving people but allocating space to cyclists gives clarity to cyclists as to where they are prioritized in the road right-of-way.

Will they pay for the funerals of the cyclists who die as a result, that is the real question.

Getting rid of bikes lanes does not get rid of cyclists. Doing so just makes cyclists unsafe.

This weird war on bikes - which we know is designed to distract from the billions of dollars in failed transit delivery (Crosstown, Ottawa LRT) - is getting dangerous.

For over a year, anti-Israel protestors haven’t met a line they weren’t willing to cross — by any means necessary and whatever intimidation it took to push their views onto others. Today’s so-called protest outside Justice Minister @viraniarif’s home to disrupt not just his life but the lives of his family, his children and his neighbours is shameful, inappropriate, and a violation of their privacy and safety. Public officials deserve the space to do their jobs without fear or harassment at their doorstep. This kind of behavior threatens the integrity of our democratic process and erodes the respectful civil discourse that is crucial to our Canadian values.

@AndrewBernstei9 I went to the Jays game last Friday v Detroit. The memorable part was my sons howling with laughter reading the Funniest College Football Player Names Of 2023 — General Booty, Moh Bility etc. Coulda used some of those guys in the lineup to inject some excitement into the game.

@AndrewBernstei9 Au contraire. Futbol is life. Now baseball, that’s a snooze fest. Just ask the Jays’ owners who spent ~$400M to create a carnival atmosphere around the perimeter of the field to distract from the tedium on it (btw, “SHOES OFF” would vastly improve the 7th inning stretch).

@nationalpost While the conduct of those involved was not great, this hand wringing is embarrassing as is the author’s hyperbole and unfamiliarity with soccer (it’s a “penalty kick” not a “penalty shot” — that’s hockey).
