It was sad to watch flames engulf Frank’s restaurant in Smuggler’s Inn this evening at 6920 Macleod Trail SW. In December 2021 fire destroyed the Ginger Beef Bistro House not far away.

Ward 11 Coun. Kourtney Penner (formerly Branagan) saw my website stats and knew I would be interested in hers. Her campaign website experienced exactly the same hike in traffic on election day as mine with about 4,000 unique visits. It ain't over 'til it's over. @paulisci

@chrisdoyle78 That’s amazing. Not only does this make polling difficult, it might also influence campaigning. Candidates could put more emphasis on positioning signs near polling places and ramping up social media advertising until the bitter end.

Here’s one reason polls are sometimes way off. My Ward 11 campaign website received a major boost in traffic on election day, suggesting many voters didn’t make up their minds until the last minute. The only poll that can capture that is the voting booth. @paulisci

This Globe and Mail feature is visually impressive, but the stats are sobering. Fortunately, the City of Calgary's solutions are in the works, including office conversions, enhancements to public spaces, encouraging private investment and creating a dedicated downtown team.

A Northwest Research Group poll conducted Oct. 7-9, 2021 suggests I'm running third out of the eight candidates for city council in Ward 11. I believe the voter is always right, but that doesn't mean I won't try to change people's minds and win over the 29% of undecided voters!

This is what makes municipal politics awesome and unique. In summary, @hmcrae says city council needs to have robust conversations about important issues. They should not be informed by ideology. They should be informed by facts. And we need to listen to other perspectives.
