The so-called "first-of-its-kind partnership" kicks off on Netflix at 3pm ET on Aug 27, then hits YouTube and Rockstar's own site at 9pm the same day for no subscription, and for everyone.

Renting a headline for an afternoon isn't the second coming of Christ. And Netflix left out the six-hour detail in their press release.

It's prob the next rung on a partnership that's been running for years, with the GTA Trilogy coming to Netflix Games, then Red Dead, and then San Andreas (~60 million downloads alone to be fair).

Netflix has spent that whole stretch trying to make gaming feel native to the platform, and GTA is the biggest brand on earth to borrow for it.

And borrowing is all this is. The reveal will reach an untold number of people whether it's on Netflix, YouTube, a billboard, or a group chat.

The last trailer did almost half-a-billion views in a day with no gatekeeper at all. Netflix isn't growing that audience.

Nothing burger.

It's a cool deal for Netflix, sure. But every entertainment outlet on bloody earth will have it broken down frame by frame quickly anyways.
