This #ASTRO21 #DEIinRO is def one I will be watching again. Mitigating bias in the hiring & residency review process should be a top priority for every program. Structured interviews & holistic review via standardized rubric are important tools to help level the playing field.

@pre_rad I was reflecting on this last week as I prepared for our weekly academic Breast rounds. Have you read any interesting published reports/perspectives on this recently? My literature review was somewhat out of sync with the lived experiences of family and patients in my community.

We know that Black children are often viewed as adults? And that Black patients/parents are penalized for the very advocacy that is professed as so important to care? And that Black patients are often referred less for "aesthetic" procedures...like breast recon after mastectomy?
