@BrendanKutyNJ I mean he’s been given opportunity after opportunity and hasn’t succeeded. He’s proven he’s a poor LF and his arm isn’t what it used to be. He’s been a poor hitter for years now. Not sure why he feels he’s earned a starting role.
@Connor_J_Hughes I don’t see this as bush lg. It’s about leverage.NYJ had some when carr/jimmy G were on the market as viable alts. For whatever reason they couldn’t/wouldn’t neg a deal for AR then. Now NYJ have no lev so GB is turning the screws. To me that’s just smart business.
@FiresideYankees First off it’s not Boone’s decision. 2nd while volpe has been phenomenal it’s still ST and there is years and decades of evidence that ST often doesn’t translate to the regular season. My guess is they look for similar perf in AAA and wait for an injury or eventually dfa JD
@JLasagna43 Why bc is a ST situation they are trying him in CF? It means nothing other than an emergency or showing another team he could play there in a pinch. If this was July I’d agree but the one time they should be doing it is ST. This is a non issue as far as the season goes
@FiresideYankees I’ll start by saying I typically don’t subscribe to ST stats however it’s hard to ignore the spring he’s having and he’s getting these hits against regular major league pitchers. Is it possible they actually send peraza down who isn’t doing much w the bat and keep volpe as OD SS?
@JulianGuilarte1 Has he has any early game ABs yet? I’ve seen lots of his ABs against minor league pitching. Id love to get him some status against some legit major league pitching to see how he handles it
@JLasagna43 @Yankees In his entire career he’s played 3 games at 3B. All in 2021 in A ball. Not sure if he’s played any 3B this spring. I agree they should be giving him time at 3B but he’s never played there before. Asking him to learn it on the fly at the big league level is asking a lot
@JLasagna43 If you want volpe at 3B he needs to start in AAA bc I don’t think he’s ever played there. If you want him at SS or 2B then he’s earned a starting role there. No argument. But you do him a disservice by asking him to learn the position as a rookie on the fly at 3B
@xiggy89x I can’t tell if this is parody or if people really evaluate their chances based on some spring training stats? It’s a joke right? Please tell me it’s a joke.
@Starting9@short_porch Good lord this is absurd. Nearly all his ABs have been against minor league pitching. He has almost no AA experience. Can we let him develop just a little before we put him in CF on OD?
@MaxTGoodman Does anyone have a list of pitchers he’s faced. Not tamping down expectations just curious if he’s faced any current, established major league pitchers yet
@JimmyRandazzo I struggle with the solution here. Bc I agree with you but with Torres at 2B and I’m assuming they don’t trade him, then where to OP and AV fit? The obv answer is to move one to 3B but I don’t think either have played much if any 3B this spring so that seems unlikely
@bustaminds@JimmyTraina@MadDogUnleashed the question was who will be the biggest star in NY, it’s Aaron judge. Not a 39yo rodgers. The question wasn’t which sport is more popular. Judge is the sports face of NY and it’s not even close for whoever is 2nd.A 2 year rodgers on the NYJ wouldn’t move that needle even a little
@xiggy89x That’s the only reason I’d consider starting him in AAA. Let him acclimate there, make sure he’s ready. Once he’s up he’s up. No turning back.
@xiggy89x you cannot judge him simply bc of his ST stats. Those are not good metrics to use. That said, you have to be 100% sure he’s ready. Once he’s up you need to commit to him. Full time no matter what. So be sure. Can’t send him down if he’s hitting .175 in May.
@JimmyRandazzo IKF could hit .000 or 1.000 and it matters the exact same as anyone else in ST. ST stats mean nothing. Good or bad. IKF is who he is. A backup who should be traded but what he does in ST has no impact on that
