Let's talk about different codes in the ER ând trauma unit
Code blue: Code Blue is a universal hospital alert for a life-V threatening medical emergency, most commonly cardiopulmonary arrest, meaning the heart and/or breathing has stopped, triggering an immediate response from a specialized medical team for resuscitation (CPR, defibrillation, advanced life support) to save the patient's life, especially with early intervention.
Code red: Code red indicates a fire or that smoke is present within the hospital facility. This code is critical for patient safety, as even a small fire can require an emergency response.
Code black: "code black" in a hospital generally signifies a non-medical emergency, such as a bo mb thr eat, active shoo ter, or another security threat.
NB: its meaning can vary between facilities and may also be used for other serious situations like a severe weather warning.
Code Pink: pediatric emergency
Code brown: Code brown indicates a chemical spillage, hazardous material or work harzard.
Code Yellow: a hospital, Code Yellow typically signals a missing patient or child, triggering an immediate search and lockdown procedures, but its meaning can vary, sometimes indicating a bomb threat, a general disaster, or a need for immediate evacuation.
PS: It is crucial to know your facility's specific codes.

Summary from the Webinar with the Registrar of NMCN:

- Implementation of centralization of internship will take a while. It's going to take a lot of back and forth with the government. According to the Registrar, "we are at the processing stage".

- The government is the main decision-maker on this matter. If they prioritize it today, it could happen sooner, but for now, "it's under processing."

- HND nurses have a different path for their industrial experience, separate from the internship.

- Even when implemented, the centralized internship system will be imperfect and will likely have loopholes that will need to be addressed over time.

- Certificate of Registration: No comment.

- Ju gbo gbo e lo, avoid having issues with your nursing credentials or personal details. Resolving them is a lonely, frustrating process.
