The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 87.48 per cent of expected results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing portal, with collation now in its final stages.
Checks by our correspondent on the INEC Results Viewing Portal as of 9:42 pm show that 3,292 polling unit results have been uploaded out of an expected 3,763, up from 3,119 results, or 82.89 per cent, about an hour and 36 minutes earlier.
Data from the portal showed the last upload was recorded at 8:48:08pm on Saturday, from polling unit 29/03/11/007 in Ife North Local Government Area, as collation continued across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has been consistent on one thing: banditry is not a family dispute, and bandits are not misunderstood brothers waiting for emotional appeal.

For years, he said what many were afraid to say. There should be no reward system for killers. No romantic language for terrorists. No negotiation that turns victims into afterthoughts and criminals into stakeholders.

That is the hard truth.

The people who burned villages, kidnapped children, killed farmers, collected ransom, displaced families and destroyed communities are not freedom fighters. They are violent criminals. Any serious country must first protect innocent citizens before it starts searching for soft landing for their attackers.

This is why El-Rufai’s position matters.

It is not about noise.

It is about clarity.

It is about national security thinking.

It is about understanding that once the state begins to beg bandits, the ordinary citizen loses faith in the state. Once criminals discover that violence can earn them negotiation, recognition or settlement, more criminals will pick up guns.

That is how weakness multiplies insecurity.

Today, Nigerians are hearing too much soft language around bandits. We hear “dialogue.” We hear “brothers.” We hear “repentance.” We hear “non-kinetic approach.” But the families paying ransom do not need grammar. Farmers chased from their farms do not need public relations. Mothers whose children are still in captivity do not need emotional experiments.

They need security.

They need justice.

They need the state to stand firmly on their side.

El-Rufai understood this long ago. His position may sound harsh to some people, but insecurity itself is harsher. Bandits have shown no mercy to the poor. They have shown no mercy to students. They have shown no mercy to pregnant women, travellers, farmers or villagers.

So why should government speak about them with softness that victims never received?

A serious government must combine intelligence, surveillance, community protection, military pressure, police reform, border control, prosecution, and lawful force. But what it must never do is create the impression that terror pays.

That is the danger El-Rufai has been warning about.

Nigeria cannot negotiate its way out of every evil. Some threats must be confronted. Some criminal networks must be dismantled. Some killers must be made to understand that the Nigerian state is not weak.

El-Rufai may have his critics, but on banditry, his message has remained clear, courageous and brutally realistic.

No sympathy for terror.

No reward for ransom economy.

No brotherhood with killers.

Protect the victims. Crush the networks. Restore the state.

Data is brutal.

BREAKING: The ICPC has released details of electronic items that were recovered from the residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

According to the anti-graft agency, the items seized are largely electronic devices and digital storage equipment.

In a statement, the ICPC said it recovered nine flash drives, one memory card, and seven hard drives. The commission also listed multiple laptops among the items taken, including Apple MacBook Pro and Elumac Book Pro models.

Mobile phones were also part of the recovery. The agency said the devices include Blackberry, Nokia N95, Toshiba, Samsung IDEOS, Google IDEOS, and 18 other mobile devices.

In addition, operatives reportedly retrieved a Remarkable tablet along with its chargers. The commission further disclosed that folders containing flight tickets were found stored across various digital devices.

The ICPC stated that all recovered items were properly documented, sealed, and prepared for forensic analysis as part of an ongoing investigation.
