Taylor Swift’s music video, where she looks down at the scale where it says “fat,” is a shitty way to describe her body image struggles. Fat people don’t need to have it reiterated yet again that it’s everyone’s worst nightmare to look like us.
Teachers do pre-assessment & planning for instruction for our students but PD facilitators do not do that for us. We will all receive the same instruction no matter our needs. That irks me.
Recovery from mental, emotional or physical burnout can take years. Even if you start prioritizing rest and you start living a softer life, your nervous system remembers the burnout and/or the trauma. Understanding this and being gentle and patient with ourselves is key
Use the curriculum with fidelity, but also differentiate for all learners, but also the curriculum doesn’t actually teach the skills, so you must supplement that information, but also make sure you’re done each unit in the allotted time… 🙄🙃 #teacherproblems#teachertwitter

When a teacher posts about the unrelenting exhaustion we are experiencing it doesn’t mean they don’t like teaching, don’t like their students, or that they have terrible admin. It could just mean that the weight of everything over the last few years is exhausting without healing.
I used to think the volume of the classroom dictated the quality of the teacher. I now know learning can be loud and can be messy. Loud classrooms aren’t necessarily managed poorly and quiet ones don’t always indicate learning is happening.

being confrontational has a bad reputation. as long as there is respect, there is nothing wrong with wanting to address an issue head-on so that no resentment or unaddressed contempt builds up. you threaten your own peace of mind by allowing feelings to fester without release.
