The confusingly named Ha-ha is a landscaping adaptation/innovation by Capability Brown (1715-1783) to create a fence or barrier that is invisible from one side (as in the view from a stately manor house). You get beautiful uninterrupted vistas but sheep and cattle can't wander up to ruin your rosebushes. Has anyone tried doing something similar for parking lots or roads?
Ha-Ha Road, SE18 - this has nothing to do with Greenwich having a great sense of humour, but the fact that a Ha-ha is a sunken ditch, usually with a retaining wall, which provided a barrier without spoiling the viewโฆ #london#history
